Using the Todopad

What is the Todopad?

The Todopad is a “TaskQuark pad” designed to provide a view of the tasks you have set to work on today, or at any other specific date if you change the current date.

It is composed of the Agenda and the ToDo List, plus other helping columns:

  • The Agenda is a list of tasks scheduled for a given day ordered by time.

  • The ToDo List is a list of tasks that are scheduled for that day but without a specific time.

  • The On Hold List is a list of tasks that are waiting or stopped but not terminated.

  • The Past Date List is a list of tasks that are past their due or target date but ended yet.

Tip

The very same task may appear in more than one column, when there are different date events set for that task or some other conditions are met. Use the Select option in the task context menu to select all the occurrences of that task. Or press Crtl+Click to select them all.

Tasks in the Todopad

A given task may or may not be shown on the Todopad, depending on the task state, its task events and the scheduled work.

A task with more than one event date can appear more than once, with different event marks, if those events happen at different moments in time.

If the task has set a filter for a weekday, a month, or a day of the month, or is pinned, this will determine if the task is shown in the Todopad.

What is the Agenda?

The Agenda is a list of tasks with work scheduled for the selected day. By default, the selected day is the date of “today” according to your computer clock.

In the Agenda you can see the tasks ordered by scheduled work time. Also, the task events with a time set are shown in the Agenda.

Those tasks ending before, or starting after, the selected day are not shown in the Agenda, except if they are pinned to the current day. Also, tasks on hold (e.g. waiting) not ready to work (e.g. planning) are not shown.

What is the ToDo List?

The ToDo List is a list of tasks that are scheduled to work on for the selected date, but without any specific work time set.

In the ToDo List you can see the tasks ordered by priority. However, when a task is due for the selected day, it is moved to the top of the list. This way you can see first the tasks that are due for that selected date even if its priority is low. Also, the task events without a time are shown in the ToDO list.

Those tasks ending before, or starting after, the selected day are not shown, except if they are pinned to the current day. Also, tasks on hold (e.g. waiting) or not ready to work (e.g. planning) are not shown.

What is the On Hold List?

The On Hold List contains tasks not ended yet but still waiting for something or someoine, or stopped to work on.

This list is useful to keep track of the tasks that are set on hold for some reason.

Those tasks ending before, or starting after, the selected day are not shown.

What is the Past Date List?

The Past Date List shows tasks that are overdue with respect their due or target date, but not terminated yet.

This list is useful to see when a task has not been completed by the date they were due or targeted for some reason.

Note

The same task may appear on the On Hold List and the Past Due List, if the task is both on hold and overdue.

How to Use the Todopad

Creating a new task

To create a new task, click on the green plus icon at the top the pad. The Task form will be displayed where you can enter the task title, description, and other details (see Working with Tasks).

Changing the current date

The Todopad selects by default the actual current date from your computer clock.

You can change the Todopad current date by clicking on the arrows in the top left corner of the pad. The list of tasks is presented as if this day was the new “today”.

You can go back to the actual current day by clicking on the date itself, on the top left corner of the pad.

Filtering the Todopad

Selecting projects

By clicking on the project list on the sidebar, you can filter the tasks by project or subproject.

Using the filter

You can filter the tasks in the Todopad by typing a word in the filter box in the top right corner of the pad.

The tasks will be filtered by the title, to show only those tasks that match the characters entered.

Tip

Press Crtl + F to enable the filter box.
