Import a Google Calendar

How to Import a Google Calendar into TaskQuark

You can import caledar events from your Google Calendar as tasks in a TaskQuark project.

A Google calendar is a set of calendar events, which are translated into TaskQuark tasks during the import process.

Note

Google provides a different tool, namely Google Tasks, not the same as Google Calendar. TaskQuark does not support importing Google Tasks lists.

Calendar importation and synchronization

To import a Google Calendar, click on Projects on the sidebar (see Using the Projectpad) and, at the top of the page, click on the import project icon.

Select the option to import Google Calendars and sign in with the Google account you want to use. Google present will ask you to grant permissions for TaskQuark to access your calendars. Accept the necessary permissions, and then select the Google calendar you want to import from the list of your Google calendars.

Also, check the option “Keep connected” if you want to keep the Google calendar events synchronized with TaskQuark tasks in the new project.

If you have “write” permissiones for that Google calendar, changes made to tasks in the project will be reflected in your Google Calendar and viceversa.

If you only have “read” permissions on this calendar, tasks updated in TaskQuark will not be updated on the Google Calendar and they will be out of sync.

Finally, click on the “Import” button and TasKQuark will create a new project and add it on the sidebar project list. The project will take the name of the Google calendar, and it will contain all the events from the calendar as tasks. You can edit this new project to adjust the title, code, color, etc.

Special Google Calendars

Google can show your contacts’ birthdays as a calendar too. You can import a copy of this calendar as a project in TaskQuark, but note that these events will be read-only and never updated again. You can delete the project and import this calendar again to get an updated copy of this special Google Calendar.

Also, Google can provide calendars with holidays and other observance days for your country or region. You can import a copy of this calendar, but these events will not be updated. Again, you can delete this project and import the calendar again.

Deleting the Imported Project

If you want to delete the new project, you can do it from the project form as with any other project.

When you delete the project in TaskQuark, all the tasks in the project and all its subprojects will be deleted from TaskQuark. However, your Google Calendar will not be deleted. You must delete it manually from Google Calendar if you want to remove it too.

Warning

All expanded information on tasks will be lost, and any note that you added in TaskQuark for this new project will be also lost, as they are not synch’ed with the Google Calendar.

You can import the Google Calendar again if you want a new, fresh copy of the Google Calendar in TaskQuark.
